• Aftab Shivdasani was the one who pushed for Gulshan Grover to play the villain in Shaadi Se Pehle (2006). The director wanted a younger actor, but Aftab insisted Gulshan's 'Bad Man' aura would make the comedy work harder.
• On the set of Acid Factory (2009), Gulshan Grover deliberately played his scenes with a deadpan stillness to counter Aftab's hyper-energetic style. He told Aftab: 'You run around, I'll stand still. The contrast will make both of us look better.'
• Bin Bulaye Baraati (2011) was the last film where Gulshan Grover played a full-length comedic villain opposite a younger hero. After this, he shifted almost entirely to character roles in indie and international projects — Aftab was his final mainstream Bollywood foil.
