• Sharada was already a star in Malayalam when she signed 'Kungumam' (1963). R. Muthuraman was still finding his footing. The director, K. Somu, paired them specifically because he wanted a fresh, non-Madras look opposite Muthuraman — and Sharada's natural, understated style clicked instantly.
• In 'Thulabaram' (1969), Muthuraman played a quiet, morally torn husband. Sharada’s performance as the suffering wife was so intense that Muthuraman later admitted he had to consciously slow down his own delivery — he said she made him listen more on screen, not just react.
• They never became close friends off-screen. Sharada was reserved and kept to herself on set; Muthuraman was more outgoing. But they shared a quiet professional respect — no gossip, no drama. Just show up, deliver, leave.
• 'Mazhai Megam' (1977) was their last film together — and it was a remake of a Malayalam hit. Sharada had already acted in the original. She personally recommended Muthuraman for the Tamil version, giving him a rare second wind in his career after a slump.
• Muthuraman once said in an interview: 'Sharada doesn't act — she becomes the character. I had to work twice as hard just to keep up with her in 'Kungumam'.' He said this years later, still sounding a little awed.
