Partnership facts

• Sripriya was just 16 when she signed Padhaboojai (1974). Sujatha, already a star, insisted the director cast her after seeing her in a small role — he didn't want to because of her age.
• In Aanpillai Singam (1975), Sujatha deliberately slowed his dialogue delivery to match Sripriya's nervous rhythm. She later said he did this so she wouldn't look inexperienced on screen.
• During Nee Oru Magarani (1976), Sujatha would rehearse scenes with Sripriya in his car between shots. He never let the crew watch — said it made her freeze.
• Kudumbam (1984) was their last film together. It directly launched the career of child actor S. Ve. Shekhar's son, who played their on-screen son — he later became a leading comedian in Tamil TV.
• Sripriya once said in an interview: 'Sujatha sir never let me feel like a newcomer. He would whisper the next line if I forgot it — but make it look like part of the scene.'
• After Kudumbam (1984), they never spoke again. No fight — Sripriya moved to Telugu cinema, and Sujatha never called. She found out years later that he kept a still from Padhaboojai in his study.
