• Santhanam and Hansika first shared screen space in Velayudham (2011), but the pairing that clicked wasn't planned — director Raju Sundaram cast Hansika opposite Santhanam in Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (2012) only after seeing their easy banter in the earlier film. That second film made them a sought-after jodi.
• In Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru (2013), Santhanam played a shy, stammering hero while Hansika played the confident, fast-talking love interest. She deliberately sped up her dialogue delivery in every scene to throw him off rhythm — and he used that fluster to make his character's awkwardness feel real.
• Their horror-comedy Aranmanai (2014) was such a sleeper hit that it directly spawned a franchise — Aranmanai 2, 3, and 4 all followed, though Hansika only returned for the second one. The original's success convinced producers that a Santhanam-Hansika combo could open a film in any genre.
