Partnership facts

• Chiranjeevi and Sridevi first shared screen space in 'Ranuva Veeran' (1981) only because the original heroine walked out. The producer called Sridevi as a last-minute replacement, and she agreed without even reading the script.
• In 'Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari' (1990), Chiranjeevi deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery during their romantic scenes. He told the director that Sridevi's comic timing was so sharp that if he rushed, the audience would miss her reactions.
• During the shoot of 'Aadmi Aur Apsara' (1991), Sridevi would cook biryani for the entire unit every Sunday. Chiranjeevi later said she made it only because she knew he missed home food — and she never told anyone else that.
• Chiranjeevi once said in a 1995 interview: 'Sridevi didn't need a hero. She needed a co-star who could keep up. I just ran behind her and tried not to trip.'
• The success of 'Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari' (1990) directly inspired the Telugu fantasy-comedy boom of the early 90s. At least five films with similar 'mortal meets celestial woman' plots were greenlit within a year, including 'Yamudiki Mogudu'.
• In 'S. P. Parasuram' (1994), their last film together, Sridevi insisted on doing her own stunts in the climax fight sequence. Chiranjeevi later revealed she did it because she wanted their final collaboration to have a scene where they were equals — not him saving her.
