• Director R. Sundarrajan cast Ramki and Vijayakumar together in 'Makkal Anaiyittal' (1988) because he wanted a fresh pair — Vijayakumar was already a star, but Ramki was still finding his footing. • In 'Poovizhi Raja' (1988), Vijayakumar deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery in their confrontation scene so Ramki could match his intensity. Ramki admitted in a 1990 interview that Vijayakumar 'taught me how to pause for effect — I used to rush through lines before that film.'
