• Years later, Sowcar Janaki told a magazine: 'Bhim Singh never shouted on set. He would just look at me with those sad eyes if I messed up a take. I worked harder for that look than for any award.'
• Bhim Singh was a music composer first, not a director. Sowcar Janaki agreed to star in his directorial debut 'Padikkadha Medhai' (1960) only after he personally composed a special tune for her introductory scene — a gesture no other director had made.
• On the sets of 'Palum Pazhumam' (1961), Janaki would quietly rewrite her own lines in the margins of the script. Bhim Singh never stopped her — he said her instinct for colloquial Tamil made his dialogues land harder with family audiences.
• Their third film together, 'Paar Magale Paar' (1963), was the first Tamil movie to feature a female protagonist who openly rejects an arranged marriage without being punished by the plot. That script was written specifically because Janaki told Bhim Singh she was tired of playing suffering wives.
• Janaki and Bhim Singh had a standing bet on every film: if the movie ran for 100 days, he had to cook her a full Andhra meal at his home. He lost all four times — and cooked every single one.
