• Sundar C. didn't just cast Aarthi in Giri (2004) — he rewrote the female lead specifically for her after seeing her in a small role. She was the first person he called when he decided to make a masala film with a strong heroine.
• On the sets of Ainthaam Padai (2009), Sundar C. would let Aarthi improvise her fight scenes. She was a trained dancer, so she'd add her own rhythm to the punches. He then edited the entire action sequence around her timing.
