• Sundar C. was a huge fan of Vinu Chakravarthy's villain roles in the 80s. When he wrote Azhagarsamy (1999), he didn't just cast Vinu — he rewrote the villain's part specifically to give Vinu a meatier role than the script originally had.
• On the sets of Azhagana Naatkal (2001), Sundar C. realized Vinu Chakravarthy could do comedy as well as villainy. So he started writing scenes where Vinu would improvise one-liners in his deep baritone — and those became the film's biggest laugh lines.
• Their fourth film Chinna (2005) directly launched the career of actor Karan. Sundar C. cast him as the lead after Vinu Chakravarthy recommended him from a stage play they'd done together. Karan went on to star in over 20 Tamil films.
• Vinu Chakravarthy was a trained classical singer. During the shoot of Giri (2004), he would teach Sundar C. old Tamil folk songs between takes. Sundar later said those sessions helped him relax during the most stressful days of production.
• Sundar C. once said in an interview: 'Vinu Chakravarthy was the only actor I never had to explain a scene to. He'd read it once, nod, and deliver exactly what I imagined — sometimes better.'
