• Sivakumar was a rising star when Gemini Ganesan — already a legend — personally requested him for 'Annai Velankanni' (1971). Gemini had seen Sivakumar's work and told the director he wouldn't do the film without him.
• On the sets of 'Thirumagal' (1971), Gemini Ganesan would deliberately flub his lines in the first take just to make Sivakumar laugh and loosen up. Sivakumar later said Gemini's playful energy helped him stop being nervous around a screen giant.
• During the shoot of 'Deivam' (1972), Gemini Ganesan would invite Sivakumar to his room every evening to discuss the next day's scenes. They'd rehearse dialogues together like college friends — something Gemini rarely did with other co-stars.
• Their pairing in 'Agathiyar' (1972) was so convincing as sage and disciple that the film's devotional songs became a template for later Tamil mythologicals. Directors started casting father-son-like duos in similar roles for the next decade.
• Sivakumar once said in an interview: 'Gemini sir treated me like his own son on set. He'd hold my hand before a heavy scene and whisper, "Just breathe, boy. I'm right here." I never felt like a junior artist with him.'
• After their fourth film wrapped in 1972, Gemini Ganesan and Sivakumar never worked together again — not because of a fallout, but because Gemini's health declined. Sivakumar visited him in the hospital regularly until Gemini passed away in 2005.
