• Puneet Issar and Mithun Chakraborty first shared screen space in 'Muqaddar' (1996), but the real story is that Issar — famous for playing Duryodhan in the Mahabharat TV series — actually directed Mithun in that film. He cast himself opposite the star because he wanted to prove he could hold his own as a lead actor, not just a villain.
• In 'Sher-E-Hindustan' (1997), Mithun played a double role — a father and his son. Puneet Issar played the villain. The trick was that Issar had to act opposite two different versions of Mithun in the same scene, and Mithun would switch between characters without breaking eye contact. Issar later said that Mithun's energy forced him to raise his own intensity every take.
• After their first three films flopped back-to-back (1996-1997), both actors went their separate ways for 25 years. They didn't stay in touch. Then in 2022, Vivek Agnihotri cast them together in 'The Kashmir Files' — and neither had any idea the other was in the film until they met on set. They hadn't spoken in over two decades.

• Puneet Issar told a news channel after 'The Kashmir Files' released: 'I didn't even know Mithun da was in the film. When I saw him on set, I just laughed. 25 years later, and we're still playing the same roles — he's the hero, I'm the guy who makes his life hell.'
• In 'Suraj' (1997), Mithun played a blind man who regains his sight. Puneet Issar played the antagonist who had blinded him. The entire emotional arc of the film depended on Issar's character being menacing enough to justify Mithun's rage — and Issar deliberately played it cold, giving Mithun space to do the big dramatic outbursts. It was a classic 'villain sets the table, hero eats' dynamic.
