• Madhavi was the one who pushed for Thengai Srinivasan to be cast in Thillu Mullu (1981). She had worked with him earlier in a stage play and told director K. Balachander that only Srinivasan could play the role of the sly servant. Balachander agreed after a single audition.
• In Garjanai (1981), Madhavi and Srinivasan had a scene where she had to cry while he made her laugh. Srinivasan deliberately flubbed his lines to get a genuine laugh out of her. The take they kept was the one where she broke character and laughed — it became the scene Tamil audiences still quote.
• During the shoot of Kaakki Sattai (1985), Madhavi would bring homemade snacks for Srinivasan every day. He had diabetes and she made sure he had something sugar-free. They called it their 'lunch deal' — she fed him, he taught her comedy timing.
• Their pairing in Thillu Mullu (1981) directly inspired the comic duo template for Rajinikanth's later films. Director K. Balachander admitted that the Madhavi-Srinivasan dynamic was the blueprint for the 'straight woman vs. funny man' setup in many of his 80s hits.
