• For Woh Saat Din (1983), director Bapu wanted a fresh face opposite Padmini Kolhapure. Naseeruddin Shah recommended Anil Kapoor, who was still struggling after a flop debut. That recommendation got Anil his first hit.
• On the sets of Karma (1986), Naseer would deliberately break his dialogue rhythm to throw Anil off. Anil would then counter by speeding up his own delivery. Subhash Ghai let them keep doing it — that push-and-pull became the energy of their scenes together.
• During the shoot of Rajkumar (1996), Naseeruddin Shah would sit with Anil Kapoor every evening and read out passages from Urdu poetry. Anil, who doesn't read Urdu, later said those sessions taught him how to time a pause in a dramatic scene.
• Anil Kapoor once said: 'Naseer sahab doesn't act. He just stands there and the scene happens around him. I had to learn to stand still to act with him.'
• The success of Woh Saat Din (1983) directly led to Anil Kapoor being cast in Yash Chopra's Mashaal (1984). Chopra saw the rushes of Woh Saat Din and told his team: 'That young man with Naseer — he's the one.'
