• Rama Narayanan cast Reka in 'Megam Karuthirukku' (1987) after seeing her in a small role in another film. He later said he picked her because she had 'sad eyes that could cry on command' — a skill he needed for the melodramatic scenes he was known for.
• On the sets of 'Manaivi Oru Mandhiri' (1988), Rama Narayanan would rehearse each scene with Reka alone before the cameras rolled. He played the male lead himself, so he controlled the pacing — she had to match his rhythm, not the other way around.
• Reka later revealed that Rama Narayanan never let her see the full script of any of their three films. He would hand her dialogue sheets only on the morning of the shoot, scene by scene. She said it kept her 'nervous and raw' on camera — exactly how he wanted her.
• Their third film together, 'Thangamana Purushan' (1989), was the first Tamil film to feature a scene where the hero publicly apologizes to his wife in a temple. That scene became a template for several family dramas in the early 90s, including a direct lift in a 1992 Vijayakanth film.
• Reka once told a magazine: 'Rama Narayanan made me cry in every film. Not because he was harsh — he just knew exactly which button to press. He'd whisper something sad about my real life right before the shot, and I'd break down.'
• In 'Megam Karuthirukku' (1987), Rama Narayanan deliberately shot Reka's close-ups in single takes — no retakes allowed. He believed her first take had the most 'honest' emotion. This meant she had to nail every crying scene in one go, which she did all three times they worked together.
