• Riteish Deshmukh was cast in 'Aladin' (2009) because director Sujoy Ghosh wanted a fresh comic sidekick for Amitabh Bachchan's genie. Riteish later said he was terrified of sharing screen space with Big B, so he deliberately played the role as a nervous wreck — which Ghosh kept in the final cut.
• In 'Rann' (2010), Amitabh Bachchan played a stoic news anchor while Riteish played his emotionally volatile son. Bachchan deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery in their confrontation scenes to force Riteish to hold his pauses longer — a trick that made Riteish's outbursts land harder.
• During the shoot of 'Darna Zaroori Hai' (2006), Riteish was so nervous about acting opposite Bachchan that he forgot his lines in the first take. Bachchan quietly handed him a chai and said, 'Beta, main bhi bhool jaata hoon. Bas doosra take lete hain.' They finished the scene in one more take.
• Riteish Deshmukh said in a 2010 interview: 'Working with Mr. Bachchan in Rann was like playing chess with a grandmaster. He doesn't tell you the move — he just makes you realize you were three steps behind.'
• The only reason 'Aladin' (2009) got a theatrical release in Maharashtra was because Riteish Deshmukh personally called his father, then Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, to intervene when the censor board demanded cuts. Amitabh Bachchan later joked that Riteish's 'political pull' saved the film.
