• Anurag Kashyap didn't originally write the role of Duke in Gulaal for Piyush Mishra. He wrote it for a much older actor. Piyush auditioned anyway, and Anurag was so blown away by his intensity that he rewrote the entire character around him.
• On the sets of Gulaal, Piyush Mishra would often improvise his dialogues in real time. Anurag Kashyap kept the camera rolling instead of cutting, letting Piyush's raw energy dictate the scene's rhythm. That's why Duke's monologues feel so alive — they were being written in the moment.
• The character of Ramadhir Singh in Gangs of Wasseypur was born because Piyush Mishra told Anurag Kashyap a real story about a coal mafia don from Dhanbad during a late-night drinking session. Anurag turned that anecdote into the film's central villain.
• During the making of Gangs of Wasseypur, Piyush Mishra would often stay back after his scenes were done just to watch Anurag direct other actors. He later said he learned more about acting from observing Anurag's frustration and patience than from any acting workshop.
