• They first came together in Wardaat (1981) because the director needed a fresh pair for a crime thriller. Mithun was already a star after Disco Dancer, but Kajal was a newcomer. He insisted on her casting after seeing her screen test — he said she had 'the right fear in her eyes' for the role.
• In Karate (1983), Mithun did all his own fight choreography. Kajal couldn't keep up with his speed. So they shot her reaction shots separately — she would watch him fight a dummy, then film her terrified expressions. That mismatch actually made their scenes feel more real: he looked unstoppable, she looked genuinely scared.
• Their third film Karate (1983) was one of the earliest Hindi movies to feature a female lead learning martial arts. Kajal trained for three weeks with a stunt coordinator from Hong Kong. That film directly inspired the makers of the 1985 hit Mard to give their heroine a similar action arc.
• During the shoot of Hum Se Badkar Kaun (1981), Kajal's mother fell ill. Mithun quietly paid for her hospital bills and never told anyone. Kajal only found out years later from a nurse. She called him and cried. He said, 'Family first, film second.'
• Kajal Kiran once said in a 1983 interview: 'Mithun da would rehearse a scene with me ten times before the camera rolled. He never lost patience. He made me feel like I was the only actress in the room.'
