• Shammi Kapoor was the one who insisted on casting Mithun in 'Baadal' (1985). The director wanted a more established star, but Shammi saw something raw in Mithun and pushed for him.
• On the sets of 'Karamdaata' (1986), Shammi would deliberately mess up his lines to make Mithun laugh during serious scenes. Mithun later said it was his way of breaking the ice and making him feel comfortable.
• After 'Daata' (1989) flopped, the two never worked together again. But Mithun quietly paid for Shammi's medical bills in the early 2000s when Shammi was unwell — Shammi only found out years later.
