• They first shared screen space in Bombay 405 Miles (1980), but the real story is that Vinod Khanna was the one who insisted on casting Pran as the villain. Pran was initially hesitant, thinking the role was too small. Vinod personally convinced him to take it.
• In Khuda Kasam (1981), Pran played a blind father. Vinod Khanna would deliberately mess up his lines during rehearsals just to make Pran laugh — and Pran would stay in character, never breaking. That tension between Pran's stillness and Vinod's restless energy became the film's emotional core.
• Their pairing in Taaqat (1982) directly inspired the 1984 film Meraa Dost Meraa Dushman, where the producers tried to recreate the same 'friends-turned-enemies' dynamic with a different cast. It flopped. Audiences only wanted Vinod and Pran together.
• Off-screen, Pran called Vinod 'beta' (son). Vinod was the only co-star Pran ever invited to his home for dinner. They'd sit for hours discussing spirituality — Pran was a devout Hindu, Vinod was into Osho. They never argued about it.
• Pran once said in a 1983 interview: 'Vinod is the only actor who made me forget I was acting. When he looks at me in a scene, I feel like I'm looking at my own son.'
• In Daulat Ke Dushman (1983), their last film together, Pran improvised a slap on Vinod's face during a confrontation scene. The director kept the take because Vinod's shocked reaction was real — Pran had never hit him before, not even in rehearsals.
