• Ajay Devgn personally called Ashwni Dhir after reading the script of Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? (2010). Dhir was a TV writer making his film debut. Ajay trusted the script enough to bet his star power on a first-time director.
• On the set of Son Of Sardaar (2012), Dhir let Ajay improvise most of his comic timing. Ajay would deliver a line, then pause for Dhir to yell 'aur kuch daal de' — and Ajay would add a punchline on the spot. That back-and-forth became their working rhythm.
• Guest Iin London (2017) was the first time Ajay Devgn produced a film directed by Ashwni Dhir. It was also the only film in their trio where Ajay didn't play the lead — he took a supporting comic role to let the ensemble shine. The film tanked, and they never worked together again.
• After Guest Iin London flopped, Ajay and Dhir didn't speak for nearly two years. Dhir later admitted in an interview that he felt he'd let Ajay down. They patched up over a cup of chai at Ajay's office in 2019, but never announced another project together.
• Ashwni Dhir once said about Ajay: 'He is the only actor who will laugh at his own jokes before the audience does. On Son Of Sardaar, he'd crack himself up, and then I'd have to yell 'cut' because the camera was shaking.'
