• They first faced off in Khoon Ki Takkar (1981), but the director almost cast a bigger star opposite Ranjeeta. Vinod Mehra personally convinced the producer that their contrasting styles — his brooding intensity vs. her fiery energy — would make the revenge plot pop.
• In Gehra Zakhm (1981), Vinod deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to match Ranjeeta's natural rhythm. She later said that pause gave their emotional scenes a tension no other co-star gave her.
• During the shoot of Ustadi Ustad Se (1981), Ranjeeta would cook Vinod's favourite Punjabi dishes on set. He returned the favour by teaching her how to ride a motorcycle for a chase sequence — she refused a stunt double.
