• They first paired up in 'Sau Din Saas Ke' (1980) because the producer needed a fresh jodi to compete with the hit pair of Rajesh Khanna and Reena Roy. Raj Babbar was a newcomer from theatre, and Reena was already a star — she personally okayed him after a screen test.
• In 'Lakshmi' (1982), Reena Roy deliberately slowed down her usual fast dialogue delivery to match Raj Babbar's measured, stage-trained rhythm. She later told a trade magazine that she had to 'unlearn her speed' to make their scenes feel real.
• During the shoot of 'Naukar Biwi Ka' (1983), Raj Babbar would drive Reena Roy home every night because she was terrified of the studio's dark parking lot. They remained close friends even after both moved on to other co-stars.
• Their flop 'Ek Chitthi Pyar Bhari' (1985) was the last film they made together. Its failure convinced both actors to stop accepting multi-starrer family dramas and pivot to solo lead roles — Raj Babbar went into political films, Reena Roy into character parts.
