• Iftekhar was the one who suggested Aruna Irani for the role of the cabaret dancer in Karz (1980). He had worked with her before and told director Subhash Ghai she'd nail the 'Kaanta Laga' vibe. Ghai agreed after a single look test.
• In Karz, Iftekhar played the stern father while Aruna played the seductive dancer. Off-camera, Iftekhar would rehearse her lines with her for hours — he said she needed a 'calm anchor' to balance her high-energy performance. She later said he was the only co-star who made her feel safe doing bold scenes.
• Aruna Irani and Iftekhar shared a running joke on the sets of all three films: she called him 'Papa' (he was 30 years older), and he called her 'Billi' (cat) because she always landed on her feet during dance rehearsals. They kept this up even during serious scenes, cracking up the crew.
