Sarkar(2005)
Sarkar is a 2005 Indian Hindi-language political crime drama film directed by Ram Gopal Varma. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Kay Kay Menon, Katrina Kaif, Tanishaa Mukerji, Supriya Pathak, Kota Srinivasa Rao, and Anupam Kher. It is the first installment of the Sarkar film series. The story follows Subhash Nagre, a powerful leader who runs a parallel government in Mumbai. When he is framed for murder and imprisoned, his younger son Shankar must take over and protect the family. The film is an unofficial remake of The Godfather, set in modern-day Mumbai. It was premiered at the New York Asian Film Festival and released in India on 1 July 2005. The film is preserved at the American Academy of Motion Pictures library. Abhishek Bachchan won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance.

Storyline
Subhash Nagre, known as Sarkar, is a powerful man in Mumbai who delivers justice when the law fails. A Dubai-based don tries to strike a deal with him, but Sarkar refuses. The don teams up with Sarkar's enemies to frame him for murder. Sarkar is arrested, and his loyal son Shankar must step up to save his father and destroy everyone who threatens their family.
