Trivia

  • The film's title 'Katham Katham' is a phrase from a popular Tamil folk song, often used to express playful disbelief or teasing.
  • Director Babu Thooyavan is the son of veteran cinematographer P. S. Selvam, known for his work in 1970s and 80s Tamil cinema.
  • Actor Suresh played a dual role, portraying both the idealistic sub-inspector and the corrupt inspector after a transformation.
  • The movie was shot extensively in and around Chennai, with key police station scenes filmed in a real, decommissioned station for authenticity.
  • Despite its mix of genres, the film had a very limited theatrical run and gained more attention through television broadcasts later.
  • The soundtrack by composer S. Thaman includes a song that samples a classic Ilaiyaraaja melody, a nod to older Tamil film music.
  • This was one of the last films for supporting actor 'Puliyur' Saroja, a familiar face in Tamil cinema as a mother or grandmother, before her passing.
