• Crane Manohar wasn't even a full-time actor when Pandu cast him in Nattamai (1994). Manohar was working as a crane operator on film sets — that's literally how he got the nickname 'Crane.' Pandu spotted him on a shoot and offered him a role on the spot.
• In Muthu (1995), Pandu played the comic sidekick to Rajinikanth's lead. Crane Manohar was the villain's henchman. Their scenes together had zero dialogue overlap — Pandu's character was pure slapstick, Manohar's was deadpan menace. The contrast made both stand out in a film that became a massive hit in Japan.
• Paattali (1999) is infamous — it got a 1/10 rating and is widely considered one of the worst Tamil films ever.
