Partnership facts

• Singamuthu was a last-minute replacement in Nellu (2010). The original actor dropped out two days before shooting, and Crane Manohar — who was already cast — personally called Singamuthu and asked him to step in. That phone call started their entire partnership.
• On the set of Katham Katham (2015), Manohar would deliberately flub his lines in the first take just to make Singamuthu laugh. Singamuthu then used that real irritation in his performance — the scene where he yells at Manohar's character is actually him yelling at the real Manohar for messing up on purpose.
• The success of Idiot (2022) directly led to a small-budget comedy trend in Tamil cinema. Three indie directors have since cited the Manohar-Singamuthu double act in that film as the reason they cast real-life friends instead of trained comedians.
• Between 2010 and 2022, the two never exchanged phone numbers. Every single film was coordinated through a mutual friend who would relay messages. They only got each other's numbers after Rajavum 5 Koojavum (2022) wrapped — and immediately called each other to laugh about it.
• Singamuthu said in a 2022 interview: 'Manohar is the only actor who can make me forget the camera is rolling. When he starts his nonsense, I stop acting and start reacting. That's why our scenes work.'
