Aankalai Nambathey(1987)
'Aankalai Nambathey' (transl. Don't trust men) is a 1987 Indian Tamil-language comedy drama film directed by K. Alex Pandian in his debut. The film stars Pandiyan, Rekha Harris, and Ramya Krishnan in lead roles. Based on the novel 'Oru Murai Thaan Pookkum' by Stella Bruce, the story follows Muthupandi, a wealthy man who flees an arranged marriage and moves to Ooty. There, he falls for his colleague Surya but accidentally proposes to her mute friend Anandhi. The film explores themes of sacrifice, guilt, and miscommunication. It was shot in Ooty and Kodaikanal and features music by Devendran. The film played for 50 days in theatres.

Storyline
Muthupandi runs away from an arranged marriage and moves to Ooty for a fresh start. He falls in love with his colleague Surya, but she is already married. Heartbroken and drunk, he accidentally proposes to Surya's mute friend Anandhi. Now he must choose between his love for Surya and his duty to Anandhi.
