• Senthil was a struggling comedian when Reka, already a popular heroine, insisted he be cast opposite her in 'Namma Ooru Nalla Ooru' (1986). The director was hesitant — Senthil had no romantic lead experience — but Reka told him, 'He'll make me laugh on screen. That's what this film needs.'
• In 'Aankalai Nambathey' (1987), Reka would deliberately flub her lines during rehearsals just to watch Senthil improvise a comeback. He never used the same joke twice. That film's comedy track was built entirely from his on-the-spot reactions to her 'mistakes'.
• Their 1988 hit 'Rasave Unnai Nambi' directly inspired director K. S. Ravikumar to cast Senthil as a romantic lead in 'Pattukku Naan Adimai' (1990). Ravikumar said he watched their pairing and realized Senthil could carry a film's emotional weight, not just its comedy.
• On the sets of 'Shenbagame Shenbagame' (1988), Reka and Senthil had a running bet: whoever broke character first during a scene had to buy the entire crew lunch. Reka lost every single time. Senthil never collected — he said her laughter was payment enough.
• Reka once told a magazine in 1990: 'Senthil is the only co-star who made me forget the camera was rolling. I wasn't acting with him — I was just reacting.'
• In 'Gnanapazham' (1996), their last film together, Senthil deliberately slowed his comic timing to match Reka's more naturalistic delivery. He told the director, 'If I go fast, she'll look like she's waiting for a punchline. Let me breathe with her.' The result was their most grounded performance as a pair.
