Dhavani Kanavugal is a 1984 Indian Tamil-language drama film written, directed, and produced by K. Bhagyaraj. The film stars Bhagyaraj, Radhika, and Sivaji Ganesan in lead roles. The story follows Subramani, an economics graduate from Coimbatore who struggles to support his mother and five younger sisters. He takes menial jobs and moves to Madras in search of better opportunities. Captain Chidambaram, a retired army officer, secretly helps Subramani's family by sending money and pretending it is from Subramani. The film was praised for its emotional depth and Bhagyaraj's performance, though it underperformed at the box office. It was partially reshot in Telugu as Ammaayiluu... Preminchandi! The film features music composed by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 14 September 1984.
