• Bhagyaraj was the one who cast Parthiban in his first ever film — 'Anbulla Rajinikanth' (1984). Parthiban was a newcomer, and Bhagyaraj, already a star writer-director, gave him a supporting role that got him noticed.
• On the sets of 'Suyamvaram' (1999), Bhagyaraj wrote dialogue that played to Parthiban's strength — rapid-fire, sarcastic comebacks. Parthiban delivered them in one take, and Bhagyaraj later said he wrote longer scenes just to watch him perform.
• Despite a 33-year gap between their first and third films together, Bhagyaraj and Parthiban stayed close. Parthiban has said in interviews that Bhagyaraj was the first person he called after finishing the script of 'Mupparimanam' (2017), asking him to direct it.
