Salangai Oli(1983)
Salangai Oli is a 1983 Tamil dance drama film directed by K. Viswanath. It stars Kamal Haasan, Jaya Prada, Sarath Babu, and S. P. Sailaja. The story follows Balakrishna, a poor classical dancer who struggles to maintain his artistic integrity in a commercial world. He falls in love with a married woman and sacrifices his happiness. The film explores themes of love, loss, and legacy. It is the Tamil dubbed version of the Telugu film Sagara Sangamam. The film won two National Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards South. It was screened at the Moscow International Film Festival and the Asia Pacific Film Festival. The music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The film was released on 3 June 1983.

Storyline
Balu is a gifted classical dancer who refuses to sell out. He falls in love with Madhavi, a wealthy married woman. He sacrifices his love for her marriage. Years later, broken and alcoholic, he teaches her daughter to dance. His art lives on, but he does not.
