Sumangali(1983)
Sumangali is a 1983 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed and produced by D. Yoganand. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Sujatha, Prabhu, and Geetha in lead roles. It is a remake of the Hindi film Aasha (1980). The story follows Ramu, a lorry driver who is presumed dead after an accident, leaving his wife Thulasi blind and homeless. Thulasi raises their daughter alone while Ramu builds a new life as a performer. The film explores themes of sacrifice, mistaken identity, and family bonds. Music was composed by M. S. Viswanathan. The film was released on 12 August 1983.

Storyline
Ramu is a lorry driver who marries Thulasi against his boss's wishes. After a plot to kill him leaves him presumed dead, Thulasi is thrown out and loses her sight. Years later, Ramu returns and unknowingly befriends his own daughter while planning to marry another woman.
