Kalthoon(1981)
'Kalthoon' (transl. Rock Pillar) is a 1981 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Major Sundarrajan. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan as Parameshwaran Goundar, a village chieftain, alongside K. R. Vijaya, Major Sundarrajan, Nagesh, and Thengai Srinivasan. The story follows Parameshwaran, who once killed his own father to protect the village's honour, now facing a similar crisis when his youngest son Pazhanisamy begins to mirror his grandfather's womanising behaviour. The film explores the conflict between familial love and unwavering justice. It is an adaptation of a stage play of the same name, in which Sundarrajan had previously acted. The music was composed by M. S. Viswanathan with lyrics by Kannadasan. 'Kalthoon' was released on 1 May 1981 and was a commercial success, running for over 100 days in theatres.

Storyline
Parameshwaran Goundar, a respected village chieftain, once killed his own father to protect his community's honour. Years later, his brilliant youngest son Pazhanisamy becomes a womaniser, threatening the family's reputation. Parameshwaran must decide whether to sacrifice his son for justice or find another way to break the cycle of sin.
