'Taxi Driver' is a 1978 Indian Tamil-language action drama film directed and written by N. S. Manian. The lead cast includes Jaishankar, Sridevi, M. R. Radha, and S. A. Ashokan. The story follows an honest taxi driver in Madras who protects a young woman from a wealthy criminal. The villain had kidnapped the woman as a child to steal her family inheritance. The driver loses his taxi and faces brutal attacks but ultimately fights for justice. The film was Jaishankar's 150th acting project and was shot in Eastmancolor. It was a commercial success upon its release on 18 August 1978. The soundtrack by M. S. Viswanathan, featuring the hit 'Santhi My Holy Angel', contributed to its popularity.
