'Thedi Vandha Mappillai' (transl. The Voluntary Groom) is a 1970 Indian Tamil-language film produced and directed by B. R. Panthulu. It stars M. G. Ramachandran, Jayalalithaa, S. A. Ashokan, Major Sundarrajan, M. V. Rajamma, and Cho Ramaswamy. The story follows a man wrongly accused of murder who must find the true heir of his boss's property while protecting his own family. A young man seeks revenge for his father's death, unaware that the man he hunts is innocent. The film is a remake of Panthulu's 1967 Kannada film 'Beedi Basavanna'. It won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Film and was a commercial success, running for over 100 days in theatres. The movie was released on 29 August 1970.

Storyline
Shankar believes Solaimalai murdered his father. He moves to Chennai to find him and take revenge. But he falls in love with Uma, Solaimalai's daughter. A criminal named Suresh mistakes Shankar for a spy and traps him. Shankar must uncover the truth before he loses everything.
