Iru Malargal (transl. Two Flowers) is a 1967 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by A. C. Tirulokchandar. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Padmini, and K. R. Vijaya in lead roles, with Nagesh, S. A. Ashokan, V. Nagayya, Manorama, and Roja Ramani in supporting roles. The story follows Sundar, a man caught between his first love Uma and his devoted wife Shanti, leading to years of sacrifice and heartbreak. The film was released on Diwali day, 1 November 1967, and became a commercial success, running for over 100 days in theatres. It won two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards — Best Actress for K. R. Vijaya and Best Story Writer for Tirulokchandar. The soundtrack, composed by M. S. Viswanathan with lyrics by Vaali, features the popular song 'Madhavi Ponmayilal' set in the Kharaharapriya raga.

Storyline

Sundar loves his college classmate Uma, but his family expects him to marry his cousin Shanti. When Uma sacrifices her love to raise her orphaned nieces and nephews, Sundar marries Shanti out of guilt. Years later, Uma returns as a teacher to Sundar's daughter, forcing all three to confront their past and make painful choices.
