Padagotti is a 1964 Indian Tamil-language social problem film directed by T. Prakash Rao and produced by G. N. Velumani under Saravana Films. The film stars M. G. Ramachandran as Manickam and B. Saroja Devi as Muthazhagi, with M. N. Nambiar, S. V. Ramadas, Nagesh, Manorama, and Jayanthi in supporting roles. The story follows the enmity between two fishing communities in a coastal village, secretly fuelled by the village zamindar Neelamagam. Manickam, the honest leader of one community, promises his dying father to end the feud while falling in love with the daughter of the rival leader. The film was shot on location in Alappuzha, Kerala, and was Saravana Films' first colour production using Eastmancolor. It was released on 3 November 1964, coinciding with Diwali, and became a commercial success with a theatrical run of over 100 days.

Storyline

Manickam, leader of the Thirukaai Meenavargal fishermen, wants to end the violent feud with the rival Sura Meenavargal community. But the village zamindar Neelamagam secretly fuels the hatred to keep the fishermen weak and divided. When Manickam falls in love with the rival leader's daughter, both communities oppose the relationship. Manickam must overcome betrayal, disguise himself to survive, and expose the real villain to win peace and love.

Love unites what hatred divides.
