'Madrasapattinam' is a 2010 Tamil-language historical romance film written and directed by A. L. Vijay. It stars Arya as Ilamparithi and Amy Jackson in her feature film debut as young Amy Wilkinson, with Carole Trangmar-Palmer portraying the older Amy. The supporting cast includes Nassar, Cochin Haneefa, Lisa Lazarus, and Alexx O'Nell. Set primarily in 1940s Madras during the British Raj, the story follows a British woman who falls in love with an Indian washerman and wrestler, facing opposition from a racist British officer. Storyline
In 1940s Madras, a British governor's daughter named Amy falls in love with Parithi, a local wrestler from the washermen community. Their romance faces brutal opposition from a racist British officer who wants Amy for himself. As India's independence approaches, the lovers must fight to stay together against a backdrop of colonial violence and political upheaval.
