• Amy Jackson was a London-based model with zero Tamil when Vijay cast her as the lead in Madrasapattinam (2010). He personally coached her Tamil dialogues line by line on set — she didn't speak a word of the language before that film.
• On Thaandavam (2012), Vijay pushed Amy to do her own stunts in the underwater sequence. She had to hold her breath for over a minute while he directed from a monitor outside the tank — no doubles, no cuts. That scene became the film's most talked-about visual.
• Their 2016 film Devi (also released as Abhinetri and Tutak Tutak Tutiya) was the first Tamil horror-comedy to get a simultaneous Hindi release with the same cast. That cross-industry experiment directly led to more bilingual horror-comedies in Tamil cinema over the next few years.
• After every film wrap, Vijay would gift Amy a custom-made piece of Tamil jewellery — usually a gold chain or a pair of earrings from a specific Coimbatore artisan. She still wears one of them to red-carpet events outside India.
• Amy Jackson said in a 2017 interview: 'Vijay sir doesn't just direct you — he becomes the character with you. He'd act out every single line before I did, even the romantic ones. It was embarrassing but it worked.'
• In Mission: Chapter 1 (2024), Vijay deliberately shot Amy's scenes in single takes — no retakes allowed. He told her it was to capture 'the rawness of a first reaction'. She later admitted it was the most stressful shoot of her career, but also the one where she felt most alive on screen.
