Trivia
- The film's title 'Aghaat' means 'injury' or 'blow' in Hindi, directly linking to the plot's central workplace accident.
- Govind Nihalani, known for serious dramas, shot the film in a gritty, realistic style similar to his earlier work 'Ardh Satya'.
- Actor Om Puri, a frequent collaborator with Nihalani, was considered for a lead role but did not appear in the final cast.
- The movie was filmed partly in actual industrial areas to capture authentic factory environments and worker housing.
- It was released during a wave of socially conscious Hindi cinema in the 1980s but did not achieve major commercial success.
- The climax where the hero adopts his rival's tactics was noted for its moral ambiguity and departure from typical heroism.
- Some dialogue and scenes were inspired by real-life labor union conflicts reported in Indian newspapers at the time.
