• Ardh Satya (1983) was the first time they shared screen space. Director Govind Nihalani cast Amrish Puri as the corrupt politician and Sadashiv Amrapurkar as the slimy informer. Neither had played such a raw villain before — Puri was still known for comic roles, and Amrapurkar was a stage actor making his Hindi film debut.
• In Aghaat (1985), Puri played a union leader and Amrapurkar played a factory manager. Their scenes together are a tug-of-war: Puri shouts, Amrapurkar whispers. Amrapurkar later said he deliberately underplayed every line opposite Puri's booming voice to make the tension feel real.
• Naaka Bandi (1990) was their only comedy together. It flopped hard, but it directly inspired a running gag in the 1994 cult hit Andaz Apna Apna — where the character of 'Amrish Puri' is mocked for always playing the same villain. The joke only lands because audiences remembered Puri and Amrapurkar's double-act in Naaka Bandi.
• Amrapurkar once said in an interview that Puri would call him 'bhai' on set but never off it. They never had a meal together. After Naaka Bandi, they didn't speak for years — not out of bad blood, but because neither was the type to call just to chat.
• Sadashiv Amrapurkar on working with Amrish Puri: 'He would finish his shot and walk away. No small talk. I thought he hated me. Then I realised — he was just saving his voice for the next take.'
