Trivia

  • This film was the only directorial effort of Anwar Kamal Pasha, who was primarily known as a screenwriter.
  • The movie's plot is a rare example of a Hindi film from that era directly tackling the social issue of dowry through a comedic and satirical lens.
  • Actor Rajendra Kumar, who played Deepak, was nicknamed 'Jubilee Kumar' for his box office success, but this film was not a major commercial hit.
  • The soundtrack was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal, a famous duo, but none of the songs became widely popular compared to their other works.
  • Actress Moushumi Chatterjee, who played one of the brides, was a major star in the 1970s but her film appearances became less frequent by the early 1980s.
  • The film's title, which translates to 'The Groom is for Sale,' bluntly highlights its central critique of dowry demands.
