Suraag(1982)
Suraag is a 1982 Hindi-language crime thriller film directed and produced by Jag Mundhra. It stars Sanjeev Kumar, Shabana Azmi, and Parikshit Sahni in lead roles. The story follows Dr. Ajay Gupta, who marries a woman from India through a matrimonial ad, only for her to disappear after arriving in the United States. His friend Professor Saxena investigates and uncovers a web of deception involving drug smuggling and a fake identity. The film is notable for its suspenseful narrative and a double role performance by Shabana Azmi. It features music composed by Bappi Lahiri with lyrics by Kaifi Azmi. Storyline
Dr. Ajay Gupta, a lonely man in Los Angeles, marries Sunita, a traditional Indian woman he found through a newspaper ad. He sends her a plane ticket, but she vanishes at the airport. A ransom note demands money. As his friend Professor Saxena investigates, he discovers Sunita is actually Bela, an aspiring actress involved in a cocaine smuggling plot.
