Ghatana is a 2016 Indian Telugu-language thriller film directed by Sripriya. It stars Nithya Menen in the lead role as Malini, with Krish J. Sathaar and Naresh in supporting roles. The film is a remake of the Malayalam film 22 Female Kottayam (2012). The story follows Malini, a nursing student in Bengaluru who dreams of moving to Canada. After being betrayed and raped by her boyfriend Varun and his boss Prakash, she is sent to prison. In jail, she learns criminal skills and transforms into a cold-hearted avenger. Upon release, she systematically kills Prakash and mutilates Varun. The film features musical score by Aravind-Shankar. It was simultaneously shot in Tamil as Malini 22 Palayamkottai, which was released two years earlier. Ghatana was released on 18 September 2016 to negative reviews, mainly due to its delayed release making the story feel outdated.
