Trivia

  • The film's title 'Aethiree' is a Tamil word that roughly translates to 'Hey, look here!' or 'Hey, listen!', often used to grab attention.
  • This movie marked one of the few times actor Prashanth worked with director K.S. Ravikumar, known for his hits with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.
  • A key comedy track in the film involves the mix-up of two women with similar names, which drives the main plot of the mistaken kidnapping.
  • The soundtrack by Vidyasagar included a popular romantic song, 'Kangal Irandal', which was shot in scenic outdoor locations.
  • Actress Laila, who played a dual role, was a major star in Telugu cinema at the time and her participation was a notable crossover.
  • The film's plot of a fake criminal helping with a love kidnapping shares a basic premise with several earlier Tamil comedies from the 1990s.
  • Despite the director's reputation for commercial successes, 'Aethiree' had a relatively quiet reception at the box office compared to his other works.
