→Trivia
- This was the first film for director Subramaniam Siva, who was previously an assistant to director S. Shankar.
- The movie's title 'Thiruda Thirudi' translates to 'Thief and Trickster', which directly describes the lead character's playful nature.
- Actress Trisha, who played the female lead, was already a star in Telugu cinema but was still establishing herself in Tamil with this film.
- A notable song from the film, 'Kadhal Vaithu', was composed by Bharadwaj and became popular for its melody and picturization.
- The film's plot involving a prankster reforming after a family crisis was a common theme in early 2000s Tamil cinema aimed at youth audiences.
- Despite mixed reviews, the movie had a moderate box office run, benefiting from Dhanush's rising popularity at the time.
- Some comedy scenes in the film were improvised by the actors to match the lighthearted tone of the first half.
