Trivia

  • The film's title is a nod to the epic Mahabharata, comparing the lead characters to the warrior Arjuna and the strong-willed Draupadi.
  • Director Saran initially planned to cast a more established actor, but chose newcomer Manoj for a fresh look.
  • Richa Pallod, a popular Hindi TV actress at the time, made her Tamil film debut with this movie.
  • The film's soundtrack by Deva was a commercial success, with the song 'Kannukkul Nooru' becoming a hit.
  • It was shot extensively in and around Chennai, using real wedding halls and local neighborhoods for authenticity.
  • The plot's premise of a groom abandoning the bride at the altar was considered quite bold for mainstream Tamil cinema in 2002.
  • Despite the star-driven cast, the film had a modest box office run and is often cited as an underrated Saran film.
