• Their first film together, Mann Vasanai (1983), almost didn't happen. Director Bharathiraja wanted a fresh face for the male lead, but Ravi was already a known stage actor. Vinu, playing a supporting role, personally vouched for Ravi to the director, saying he had the 'raw village energy' the role needed.
• In Thambikku Entha Ooru (1984), Vinu deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery during their confrontation scene. He later told a magazine that Ravi's intensity made him 'forget his lines' — so he paused to let Ravi's silence do the acting. That scene became a masterclass in pacing.
• Their 1994 film Veera Padhakkam launched a minor trend: 'double-hero village action dramas' in Tamil cinema. The film's success directly inspired two similar projects that year — both producers wanted to replicate the Ravi-Vinu 'brotherhood on screen' formula.
• On the sets of Ore Oru Gramathiley (1987), Ravi and Vinu shared a single room in a village lodge for 45 days. They cooked their own meals because the catering was bad. Vinu later said they 'argued like brothers' over who had to wash the vessels.
• Vinu Chakravarthy once said in a 2005 interview: 'Ravi is the only co-star who would call me at 2 AM to discuss a scene. I'd yell at him, but I always picked up. Because he cared that much.'
• In Moondravadhu Kann (1993), Ravi improvised a slap on Vinu during a heated argument. Vinu didn't flinch — he stayed in character and whispered 'good one' before delivering his next line. The director kept the take because the shock on Vinu's face looked real.
