Iraniyan is a 1999 Indian Tamil-language period action drama directed by Vincent Selva. The film stars Murali as the titular freedom fighter, with Meena, Raghuvaran, Vadivelu, and Ranjith in supporting roles. It is a fictionalised biography of the real-life Indian independence activist Vattakudi Iraniyan. The story follows a military man who returns to his village and becomes a rebel after witnessing caste-based atrocities committed by a powerful landlord. The film is noted for its realistic portrayal of caste discrimination and colonial-era oppression. Raghuvaran won the Dinakaran Cinema Award for Best Villain for his performance as the antagonist Aande. The music was composed by Deva, with lyrics by Vairamuthu and Na. Muthukumar. Iraniyan was released on 18 November 1999.

Storyline

A military man named Iraniyan returns to his village after serving in the army. He finds the poor being brutally oppressed by a rich landlord named Aande. When Iraniyan speaks out, Aande tries to kill him. Iraniyan escapes and begins a one-man war to free his people from tyranny and caste discrimination.
